• ​FWTools - includes the GDAL tools for data conversion and the free OpenEV viewer (vectors + rasters)
• ​ENVI Freelook - image viewer part of ENVI, good for viewing images and taking spectral profiles
• ​GRASS - freeware GIS (powerful and full featured, but hard to use)
